The Amity Star was a weekly newspaper published from 1950 to 1953 in Bethany, CT.  It set out to report the news of Bethany and Woodbridge and soon expanded to cover Orange as well.

The Case Memorial Library in Orange is digitizing its copies of the Amity Star. Images of the issues through 1952 can be viewed here. Click here to search the issues that have been transcribed so far.

Our thanks to Caitlin Early, 2015 Summer Intern, for joining in the transcription process.

Update: Amity Star at Connecticut History Illustrated

We are backing up our archival images of the Amity Star to the Connecticut Digital Archive, which can be viewed at Connecticut History Illustrated (search for “Amity Star”). There you will find high-resolution images of many (eventually, all) pages presented here.  All the material at CHI is accompanied by machine-readable text and we are gradually cleaning up the somewhat rough machine transcriptions.  Going forward, newly transcribed/corrected text will be found at CHI and not here.

Our thanks to Katie Schittina, 2017 Summer Intern, for her help in transferring images to CTDA.
